1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text records that a website asks your browser to store. They can keep a session secure, remember a preference, preserve access to a guest order, or help us understand how a campaign led someone to Tambala Market.

We also use local storage and session storage. These browser features serve related purposes but are not sent to our server automatically with every request. This policy refers to all of them as “browser storage” where a distinction is not necessary.

2. Cookies we use

The cookies below reflect the current web application. A cookie may not appear on your device unless you use the feature that requires it.

CookiePurposeTypical durationCategory
auth-tokenMaintains an authenticated session and protects account-only routes.15 days, or 30 days when “Remember me” is selectedStrictly necessary
tambala_districtRemembers the district used for local discovery and availability.90 daysPreference
ticket-order-accessLets a guest securely retrieve an event-ticket order without an account.30 daysStrictly necessary
tm_growth_campaign_ctxRecords campaign attribution when you follow a Tambala Market campaign.30 daysAnalytics
tm_affiliate_touchAttributes an eligible visit or transaction to an affiliate link.Usually 30 days; never more than 90 daysAttribution

Internal administration features may set an additional short-lived secure cookie when an authorised team member is working on behalf of a seller. That cookie is not used for advertising or public-user profiling.

3. Local storage and similar technologies

Tambala Market may store the following information in your browser:

  • cart contents, checkout progress, and temporary guest-order references
  • district, display theme, and other interface preferences
  • recently viewed items and recent searches
  • dismissed notices, onboarding progress, and draft seller forms
  • anonymous session identifiers used to measure product and campaign activity
  • temporary offline queues and cached data that improve reliability on unstable connections

Retention varies by feature. Session storage normally clears when the browser session ends. Local storage remains until the feature replaces it, its programmed expiry is reached, or you clear site data in your browser.

4. Service providers

Some browser storage is created or read while we use service providers to operate the marketplace. Our current core providers include:

Google Firebase
Authentication, database, file storage, and related cloud services.
Vercel
Website hosting, delivery, and web analytics.
OneKhusa
Payment processing for supported card and mobile-money transactions.
Resend
Transactional and permitted marketing email delivery.

These providers process information under their own terms as well as our agreements with them. See our Privacy policy for more about disclosures and international processing.

5. Managing your preferences

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent sign-in, guest ticket access, checkout, and other core features from working correctly. Clearing local storage may remove carts, drafts, recent activity, and saved preferences from that browser.

“Do Not Track” signals are not implemented consistently across browsers. We therefore use browser and device settings rather than treating a DNT signal as a universal instruction.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when browser-storage practices, providers, or legal requirements change. We will revise the date at the top of the page and provide additional notice when a change materially affects your choices or how personal information is used.

7. Contact us

Questions about browser storage or privacy can be sent to tambalamarket@gmail.com. You can also use our contact page.
