Take your time when completing this page. A wrong account number, phone number, or account name may delay your payment or send it to the wrong place.

Before you start

Have the following ready:

The payment method you want to use.
The name of the person or business that owns the account.
Your bank account number or mobile money number.
The name of your bank or mobile network.
Any other details shown on the payment page.

Use an account that belongs to you or your business. Do not add another person’s account unless they are allowed to receive money for the business.

1. Open the payment settings

Go to Settings, then choose Payout methods.

You may also find it in the onboarding checklist "Set up payouts".

2. Check whether payment details are already there

The payment page may already show information you added earlier.

Before adding anything new, check:

The payment method.
The account name.
The account or phone number.
The bank or mobile network.

When the information is correct, you may not need to add it again or change anything.

When something has changed, select Edit, or Update.

Do not add the same payment method several times. You are allowed and encouraged to add multiple accounts in case one fails when making payment.

3. Choose how you want to receive your money

Choose one of the payment methods shown on the page.

The choices may include:

Bank account.
Mobile money.
Another payment method supported by Tambala Market.

Choose the method that is easiest for you to use and that you can check regularly.

Bank account

Choose a bank account when you want your money sent to your bank.

You may be asked for:

The account holder’s name.
The bank name.
The account number.
The branch name or branch code.

Mobile money

Choose mobile money when you want your money sent to a mobile wallet.

Enter the following:

The account holder’s name.
The mobile wallet provider (Airtel money or Tnm Mpamba).
The mobile wallet phone number.

The payment page will show the choices available to your business.

4. Add the account holder’s name

Enter the full name of the person or business that owns the account.

For a personal account, enter the name as it appears on the bank or mobile money account.

For example:

Thoko Grace Chirwa

For a business account, enter the registered or trading name used on the account.

For example:

Mwayi Farm Produce

The name should match the information held by the bank or mobile money provider.

Do not enter:

A nickname.
The name of someone who does not own the account.
A store name when the account is under a different legal name.
A shortened name that may be difficult to match.

When the account name is different from the name on your Tambala Market account, Tambala Market may ask you for more information.

5. Add a bank account

Complete this section when you choose Bank Account.

Choose your bank

Select your bank from the list shown on the page.

Check that you have chosen the correct bank before moving on. Some banks may have similar names.

Enter the account number

Enter the bank account number exactly as it appears in your banking app, bank statement, account book, or information provided by the bank.

Do not enter:

Your bank card number.
Your mobile banking PIN.
Your ATM PIN.
A transaction number.
A phone number.
A temporary payment code.

Your account number is the number used to identify your bank account.

Check every digit carefully. It is helpful to read the number twice before saving it.

Add the branch name as well.

When you do not know one of the details, check your banking app, bank statement, or contact your bank. Do not guess.

Important: Tambala Market does not need your bank PIN or mobile banking password to send you money. Never enter them on this page or give them to another person.

6. Add a mobile money account

Complete this section when you choose Mobile Money.

Choose your mobile network

Choose the mobile money service shown on the page.

Make sure the account is active and able to receive money.

Enter the mobile money number

Enter the phone number linked to the mobile money account.

For a Malawi number, use the format shown on the payment page. This may look like:

+265991234567

Check that:

The number is correct.
The SIM card is active.
The account is registered for mobile money.
The account belongs to the person or business named on the form.
The wallet can receive the amount you expect.

Do not enter a phone number that is not registered for mobile money.

Check the account name

Make sure the name on the mobile money account matches the name you entered.

A different name may cause the payment to fail or may lead Tambala Market to ask for more information.

8. Check all your details

Before saving, check:

The payment method.
The account holder’s name.
The bank or mobile network.
The account number or phone number.
The branch details, when needed.

Compare the information on Tambala Market with your bank or mobile money account.

A simple way to check an account number is to read it from the beginning, then read it again from the end.

Do not continue when you are unsure about a number.

9. Save your payment details

When everything is correct:

Select Save, Add Payment Method, or the button shown on the page.
Wait while Tambala Market saves the information.
Do not select the button several times.
Look for a message confirming that your details were saved.

The page may show the payment method without displaying the full account number. For your safety, only the last few numbers may remain visible.

For example:

Common problems

My bank is not listed

Check the list again and make sure you are using the correct bank name.

When the bank is still missing, contact Tambala Market Support. Do not choose another bank just to complete the form.

My account number is not accepted

Check for:

Missing numbers.
Extra spaces.
Letters entered as numbers.
A bank card number entered instead of an account number.
The wrong bank.

Compare the number with your banking app or bank statement.

I do not know my bank account number

Check your:

Banking app or access your account using USSD code suuch as *626#
Bank statement.
Account book.
Welcome message from the bank.

You can also contact or visit your bank.

Do not use the long number printed on your bank card unless your bank confirms that it is also your account number.

My mobile money number is not accepted

Make sure:

You chose the correct network.
The phone number is correct.
The number is registered for mobile money.
The account is active.
The number uses the format shown on the page.

The account name does not match

Enter the name exactly as it appears on the bank or mobile money account.

When the account belongs to your business, use the business account name. When it belongs to you, use your full personal name.

Contact Tambala Market Support when there is a valid reason for the names to be different.

I entered the wrong account number

Change it immediately when the page allows you to edit it.

When a payment is already being processed, contact Tambala Market Support as soon as possible. Tambala Market may not be able to stop a payment after it has been sent.

My payment method is still pending

Check your email and Seller Dashboard for a message asking for more information.

Do not add the same account again unless Tambala Market asks you to.

Contact Support when the check takes longer than the time shown on the page.

My payment method was not approved

Read the reason shown.

Check the account number, account name, bank, network, and account status. Add the corrected details or use another account that belongs to you or the business.

My payment was sent to an old account

Update your payment details as soon as the account changes.

Contact Tambala Market Support when a payout has already been sent. Whether the money can be recovered will depend on the bank, mobile network, and payment status.

I have not received my payment

Check:

The payment status in your Seller Dashboard.
The account number or phone number shown.
Your bank or mobile money balance.
Whether the order or booking has been completed.
Whether a refund or payment problem is open.

Contact Tambala Market Support when the payment is marked as sent but has not arrived after the expected time.

Update your payment details when they change

Return to the payment page when:

You change banks.
You open a new business account.
Your mobile money number changes.
A SIM card is lost or closed.
The account holder’s name changes.
The old account can no longer receive money.
Tambala Market asks you to update the information.

Update the account before your next payout when possible.

Do not remove an old payment method while money is still being sent to it unless Tambala Market tells you it is safe to do so.
